Dear Fashionistas and Fashion ninjas,
Yes it’s true volume is in in IN! Puffy sleeves are hither and thither, and balloon skirts and dresses are still going strong. I like this trend and I have been trodding around in some voluminous duds of my own. I actually dusted off a pair of Japanese riding pants which I pair with a funky old belt and a tight shirt. If you have graduated to the place in your fashion evolution where you can don a traditional garment with a smile and just a hint of irony, go get a pair of jodhpurs and ride the night. Fun fun fun. However, if you are lucky enough to be a full-figured woman and the idea of trying to make your legs or arms look big and fluffy seems ridiculous, fear-not. The toned down way to have a good time with this trend is to incorporate shirts that have a bow at the neck, or a make your own fancy bow with a long silk scarf and go for a nice big one. The drama here isn’t subtle, but it is very very femme. For our more power-suit “I don’t wear ruffles” ladies, go with an ascot under a button up. This is traditionally a man’s item of clothing, true. However, a Missoni type print silk ascot under a dark brown shirt and jacket could be just the touch.
…
And friends don’t don’t don’t over do those animal prints. Did you see Paris Hilton’s leopard suit? Ouf! She’s cute but her outfit was like a big ugly hairball. Infact, I’m sick of prints right now! It is a trend we get rid of and go back to like an abusive relationship. Small accents are enough, leopard prints shoes, zebra bracelet, snake skin belt. Just don’t wear any animal print that will actually keep any part of you warm. Thank you my dear fashion warriors! Until next time…
