STROKE of GENIUS

Summer style classes are in session. Welcome to Art Class 101. Whether you are into impressionism or pop art, there is something for everyone. Wearable art seems to be one of the hottest trends for summer. Splattered, stroked, or dyed– clothing becomes the creative canvas to inspire the inner artist within. And for this assignment, there are no rules. One thing is for sure, you don’t have to stay within the lines! Anything goes– florals, patterns, solids, mix of fabrics, you name it!

Dolce & Gabbana(left) chose an alternative approach, by blasting a colorful palette of violet and yellow to create a dress that looks like it was the drop-cloth reminiscent of a Pollack painting. The bubble-type dress with tulle underlay is playful and whimsical. This is definitely one of a kind!

With this dress you can still pull off the ultimate “shoe” rule for summer- GO BOLD & BRIGHT with a red strappy heel. But as for accessories, . . .bare is best with necklines, wrists, and ears. Keep all eyes on the prize—– the DRESS!

Fendi(left), on the otherhand, chose to be inspired by a mix of Pop Art Noveau. Combinations of lines, geometrics, and gradiant shades are both mesmorizing and hypnotic. Stay on target with this trend by incorporating shapes into the accessories– like a multi-rectangle belt. It gives this work of a art an upbeat attitude while maintaining a clean, sense of balance. The unique marriage of sheers and translucents make this top a true masterpiece!

Over at Chloe,(below) they played on the more “painted on” approach, by keeping one piece solid and one piece BOLD! Splish, splash of cool shades infused into an already insane cut- is a match made in heaven to any fellow artist.

Pieces chosen for this colorful collage are almost as insane as Van Gogh– crazy necklines, one sleeve, crooked collars! Although the abstract doesn’t work on everyone– these ensembles were well planned out and creatively styled. It’s definitely a case of fingerpainting gone way RIGHT!

If you are into fine art, like most of us are– I’d say stick to the professionals when it comes to this trend! They know what they are doing. There is no paint by numbers here– just simple works of art!
