“Don’t cry in the fitting room because something doesn’t fit just right.”
I studied fashion design at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. From there I transferred to UCLA where I studied costume design. I have worked on a number of music videos and photo shoots with or as a stylist. I have also worked with some small fashion companies. Currently I work as a lingerie specialist at a boutique in Santa Monica. My personal style is casual. I grew up in Los Angeles but I was raised by Midwestern parents. To me this means that I have a funky but realistic down to earth style. It is wearable and functional. I am trained as a fine artist and I love clothing with a surprise factor. Whether its wearing all black and a patent red shoe or jeans and a tshirt with a fabulous purse. More than anything I love function. I love the green movement happening in the fashion industry right now. Alternative materials are exciting and I hope to one day be a part in the creation of wearing clothes that power the way we live (i.e. solar cells). I am always redeveloping my style and myself. My hair changes colors frequently (from natural shades to hot pink), To me fashion is a way to express ourselves and allow other people to see who we are before we say a word. Different styles say different things, and I plan to tell you about as many as I can.
With my experiences, I eventually developed some of my own philosophies about how people should dress themselves.
- Make sure you wear the correct bra size. GO GET MEASURED. If the store does not specialize in bra fitting, it is probably not a place to get a proper measurement. Bra fitters are specifically trained. Chain stores do not train the same way. If you do not wear the proper things underneath your clothes, what you wear on top will never work.
- What you wear should have nothing to do with what you see in magazines or on t.v. Your style should reflect who you are. I am not here to tell you HOW to dress. I am here to tell you different ways to wear different things.
- Do not be discouraged if one of the current trends does not fit your body type. Everyone is different! There is always something that will fit who you are in size, shape, and personality! Sometimes with one of these fickle styles you need to find your own way to wear it! So give things a shot.
- Shopping is FUN!!! Don’t cry in the fitting room because something doesn’t fit just right. Size doesn’t mean a whole lot. You can look fabulous no matter what size you wear as long as you maintain a positive attitude.
