Accessories, Oh My!

It’s right around right now when my obsession with accessories hits it’s peak. My mind gets overwhelmed with ideas, and watch out if I’m in a store that has accessory abundance. It’s because of my mother. It was her that showed me the way with jewels, way back when. It’s because spring is in the air. It gets us into major style anticipation. Nonetheless, it’s right now that our excitement for shopping is, well, exciting. Points of reference before I talk about major manufactured accessories - Go resale. Go vintage. Go thrift. Make it super fun by walking in and heading straight for the counter to start scanning. You’ll be amazed at all the findings. Hair clips, well made blouse pins, and rings (among other creative nick-nacks will catch your eye). I went to Out Of The Closet (WeHo) and purchased three items - a replacement pair of Blu Blocker sunglasses in tip top shape, a wicked locket keychain, and a vintage black headband with canary yellow feathers - all for a total of $12.00. You should go and do this, pronto. Start on Fairfax near Beverly and walk your way up. There’s dsc01724.JPGapproximately three great shops of this nature to browse that are guaranteed to Accommodate Accessible Accessories for your springtime pleasure. Now on to trendy, mainstream stores. I sometimes pinch myself and remember Claire’s Boutique. I wander in from time to time for what I like to call accessory treats. I never and nor should you walk out empty handed and barely have spent $20.00. Aldo is a shoe store we all know of, and it has a small selection of jewels and bags…and sometimes it’s cute stuff. I like getting their oversized rings for approximately $10.00. Last and definitely not least, yes, Forever 21. Their turnover rate of new merchandise happens almost daily, so finding something new and inexpensive is always in store - literally. I purchased this charm necklace for only $3.99. If you do get accessories from mainstream trend shops, take good care of your findings so they don’t tarnish or get ugly as fast…or re-use charms, gems, or even bracelets for other fashion savvy outlets like hanging them on or off hats, scarves, belts, or bags. Voila.

So, whether you want to “seek-n-find” surprise accessories at resale/vintage/thrift, or want the guaranteed comfort of an “always” find at mainsteam/chain/trend, spring is definitely here and your accessories await.
